Citizens can send photos, videos and vehicle registration numbers via WhatsApp; informants’ identities to remain confidential

Bhubaneswar, Aug. 11 (UDN): The Bhubaneswar-Kataka Commissionerate Police has appealed to citizens to help identify vehicles fitted with modified silencers that allegedly generate excessive and unnecessary noise on city roads.
As part of efforts to curb noise pollution and enforce traffic regulations, residents have been encouraged to report such vehicles to the police by sharing photographic or video evidence along with the vehicle’s registration number.

Citizens can send the details through WhatsApp to the designated police number +91 82803 38302.
The police have assured residents that the identity of those providing information will be kept confidential.
The initiative is aimed at making it easier for enforcement teams to identify vehicles using unauthorised or excessively loud modified silencers and take appropriate action under the applicable rules.
Police Seek Public Cooperation
Excessive vehicle noise can cause disturbance to residents and contribute to urban noise pollution. The Commissionerate Police said public participation can play an important role in identifying violations and improving compliance on city roads.
The police have urged citizens to share genuine and relevant information and cooperate with the authorities in creating a quieter, safer and more orderly urban environment.
