Lucknow, Aug 18: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a package of welfare measures for Provincial Rakshak Dal (PRD) volunteers, raising their daily duty allowance to Rs 600 and extending cashless healthcare coverage to around 31,000 personnel and their families.

The measures are aimed at improving financial security and healthcare access for PRD volunteers, who assist the administration in maintaining public order and supporting government agencies during various assignments.

Duty Allowance Increased

The daily duty allowance for PRD personnel has been increased from Rs 500 to Rs 600. The higher allowance is expected to provide additional financial support to volunteers and recognise their contribution to public service.

For many volunteers, the increase can offer meaningful assistance with everyday household expenses while providing greater financial stability.

Cashless Treatment for 31,000 Volunteers

The government has also introduced a cashless healthcare facility for more than 31,000 PRD volunteers and their families.

The initiative is intended to make medical treatment more accessible and reduce the immediate financial burden of hospitalisation and other healthcare expenses. Cashless access can be particularly helpful for families that may otherwise struggle to arrange funds during medical emergencies.

Focus on Welfare and Security

Together, the two measures provide support on both the financial and healthcare fronts. While the revised allowance strengthens regular income support, the healthcare initiative offers protection against unexpected medical costs.

The move also reflects a broader effort to improve the welfare framework for personnel working at the grassroots level and supporting public administration.

For PRD volunteers and their families, the combination of higher duty payments and easier access to healthcare could provide greater financial confidence and a stronger sense of social security.

The effectiveness of the initiatives will ultimately depend on their smooth implementation and ensuring that eligible volunteers can access the benefits without unnecessary administrative difficulties.
