New Delhi, May 16: In a significant step towards the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, the nationwide “Nari Setu Bharat Initiative” was officially launched today in the esteemed presence of the Lieutenant Governor, Sardar Tarnjit Singh Sandhu. The initiative aims to strengthen women’s empowerment and community development through education, awareness, digital literacy, and self-reliance.
The programme highlighted the core objectives of the Nari Setu Bharat Initiative, which include promoting girl child education through the Sukanya Scheme, encouraging women’s health and hygiene awareness, supporting self-employment opportunities for women, enhancing digital literacy, and spreading awareness about various government schemes for women and the girl child.
The initiative conveners, faculty members Dr. Jnaneswari Malik and Dr. Prabhanshu Ojha from Hansraj College, University of Delhi, emphasized the importance of connecting educational institutions with communities to build a socially aware and empowered nation. The initiative received valuable support and encouragement from the Principal of Hansraj College, Prof. Dr. Rama.
Under this initiative, within a period of one year, a total of 110 Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana accounts have been opened through five rural outreach drives conducted in nearby NCR Delhi regions. These drives focused on creating awareness about financial security and educational support for the girl child among rural communities.
The initiative will expand nationally through collaboration with 25 Central Universities and nearly 35 colleges and higher secondary schools under each participating institution, thereby creating a strong bridge between educational institutions and local communities. The movement envisions transforming campuses into centres of social awareness and nation-building.
The programme also reflected the ideals of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, which focuses on inclusive growth, women-led development, youth participation, self-reliance, digital empowerment, and grassroots transformation. The Nari Setu Bharat Initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s commitment towards women empowerment and nation-building, aiming to create socially responsible and economically empowered communities across India.
Speakers at the event emphasized that the active participation of youth and educational institutions will play a crucial role in achieving the dream of a developed, self-reliant, and inclusive India by 2047.
