Vadodara, Sep 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Vadodara on Tuesday to launch and inaugurate a range of development projects worth more than Rs 35,000 crore, with a strong focus on improving rail, road and urban infrastructure.
The visit is expected to bring a major boost to connectivity and logistics in Gujarat. Among the key projects is the commissioning of three sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, covering 326 route kilometres and involving an investment of more than Rs 20,700 crore.
The freight corridor is expected to make the movement of goods faster and more efficient by improving links between industrial centres and major ports. Better freight connectivity could also support businesses and strengthen Gujarat’s position as an important manufacturing and logistics hub.
Rail connectivity will receive another major push, with foundation stones to be laid for projects covering around 329 km at an estimated cost of more than Rs 9,700 crore. These projects are aimed at expanding rail capacity and improving connectivity across the state and nearby regions.
Road infrastructure is also part of the programme. Highway projects worth around Rs 1,780 crore will be taken up, while two six-lane flyovers on NH-48 are expected to improve traffic flow and road safety.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate and launch several Gujarat government projects worth around Rs 2,600 crore. These include initiatives in urban development, housing, water supply and renewable energy.
Overall, the projects are expected to improve everyday connectivity, strengthen the movement of goods and people, and create better infrastructure to support economic activity in Gujarat.
Following his Vadodara engagements, PM Modi is scheduled to travel to Mumbai to inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest 2026.
