New Delhi, Sep 7: Business confidence among Indian companies strengthened in the second quarter of FY27, with the CII Business Confidence Index reaching 66.0, reflecting optimism about the country’s economic momentum and business prospects.
The latest reading points to improving sentiment across the corporate sector as companies remain encouraged by domestic demand and the broader strength of the Indian economy.
The improvement in confidence comes as businesses assess their sales, investment and expansion plans for the months ahead. Stronger demand is encouraging companies to look at increasing production and capacity, while a more favourable economic environment is supporting investment decisions.
Domestic consumption continues to be an important driver of business activity. Companies are also seeing opportunities from India’s expanding manufacturing and services sectors, as well as continued infrastructure and investment activity.
The rise in the index indicates that businesses remain positive despite uncertainties in the global economy. Geopolitical tensions, changing trade conditions, commodity prices and external demand remain areas of concern for companies.
However, the overall outlook remains encouraging, with stronger business sentiment providing support for private investment and expansion. Greater confidence among companies could also translate into higher hiring and increased economic activity in the coming quarters.
The latest CII assessment adds to the broader picture of an economy where resilient domestic demand and investment are helping businesses navigate external challenges. CII’s earlier surveys have similarly highlighted domestic demand, investment and policy continuity as important factors supporting business sentiment.
With the Business Confidence Index at 66.0, India Inc appears to be entering the second half of FY27 with a positive outlook, even as companies continue to closely monitor global economic risks.
