Petros Stone Brings Bastar Art and Indian Stone Together to Define a New Language of Luxury Furniture

Pune, Oct 06: Petros® Stone LLP is bringing together Bastar art and Indian natural stone in a new collection of collectible furniture, unveiled in collaboration with Inch Studio, offering a distinctive vision for contemporary Indian luxury at India Design ID Mumbai 2026. The collaboration places two of India’s most enduring material traditions—indigenous craftsmanship and natural stone—at the heart of contemporary design, transforming them into sculptural, limited-edition pieces for modern interiors.

Unveiled from 9–11 October 2026 at Jio World Garden, BKC, Mumbai, the collection reflects a shared belief that India’s materials and craftsmanship can do more than draw from tradition—they can define a contemporary design language of their own.

The collection brings together the sculptural, handcrafted vocabulary of Bastar art, with its intricate detailing and rich connection to regional storytelling, and the natural beauty of stone, meticulously selected, cut, shaped, and finished by the skilled processing teams at Petros® Stone. Conceived and designed in collaboration with Inch Studio, the pieces treat craft and material not as ornament and backdrop, but as two equal protagonists in the design.

The result is a collection where stone moves beyond its conventional architectural role to become something more intimate, tactile, and collectible. Across furniture, rugs, glasswork and experimental finishes, natural stone is explored as a design medium in its own right—sculptural rather than merely structural, expressive rather than merely functional. Each piece is produced in limited quantities, with the inherent variations of natural stone—its colour, veining, texture and movement—ensuring that every creation is inherently one of a kind.

“Indian stone has spent decades travelling across the world through architecture—in floors, façades and large-scale projects. We wanted to take it somewhere else,” said Rishabh Jain, Director, International Business, Petros® Stone LLP. “This collection brings stone into a more intimate and collectible space. When Bastar art meets precisely processed natural stone, the result is more than furniture. It is a meeting of two Indian craft traditions, translated into a contemporary design language.”

For Petros® Stone, the collection represents a larger shift in how natural stone can be imagined and experienced. Rather than limiting stone to surfaces and structures, the collaboration explores its potential as an object, experience, and expression of design—opening it up to collectors, designers, luxury residences and hospitality spaces.

Jain adds, “India has extraordinary depth in both material and craftsmanship, yet these strengths are too often experienced separately. We want to change that conversation. When exceptional Indian stone and exceptional Indian artistry come together, they can create something that is unmistakably rooted in India, while being completely at home in the world’s most sophisticated interiors.”

The collection ultimately represents more than a new category for stone or a new interpretation of Bastar art. It is a statement about where Indian design can go next. By bringing indigenous craftsmanship, natural material, and contemporary form into a single conversation, Petros® Stone is creating furniture that does not simply carry an Indian identity—it owns it, elevating it into a language of modern luxury that is distinctly Indian and inherently global.
