With over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Mukesh Kumar Sharma represents a remarkable journey of professional growth—from the Housekeeping function to a strategic leadership position responsible for driving brand excellence, quality assurance and operational readiness.
His career reflects a strong understanding of the fundamentals that define successful hospitality operations: attention to detail, consistency, cost discipline, people development and, most importantly, delivering a reliable and memorable guest experience.
In his new role, Mukesh will spearhead OPO Hotels & Resorts’ initiatives across brand standards, quality assurance, operational excellence and hotel pre–opening operations. His mandate will include strengthening operating standards across properties, driving compliance with brand SOPs, supporting operational audits, developing quality-focused practices and ensuring that new properties are successfully prepared for opening and sustainable operations.
His expertise encompasses Housekeeping & Laundry Operations, Quality Management, Pre-Opening & Refurbishment Projects, Cost Optimisation, Vendor Management, Inventory Control, Horticulture, Accommodation Services and Team Leadership.
Over the course of his career, Mukesh has been associated with several renowned names in the hospitality industry, including ITC Hotels, Hilton, Radisson, Royal Orchid, Four Points by Sheraton, The Leela, Marriott International and Aamby Valley City. This diverse exposure across leading hospitality organisations has enabled him to develop a comprehensive understanding of international operating standards as well as the practical realities of hotel operations.
Commenting on the elevation, Sandeep Basu, CEO, OPO Hotels & Resorts, said, “Mukesh’s journey is a reflection of what can be achieved through commitment, operational discipline and continuous learning. His extensive experience, particularly in quality, housekeeping and pre–opening operations, gives him a strong understanding of what it takes to create consistent standards across a hotel. This elevation is a natural progression of his contribution and capabilities. We look forward to his leadership in strengthening OPO’s brand standards and supporting our growing portfolio of hotels and upcoming openings.”
As OPO Hotels & Resorts continues to expand its portfolio and strengthen its asset-light management and operating model, the role of brand consistency, quality assurance and operational readiness becomes increasingly important. Mukesh’s elevation is expected to further strengthen these capabilities and support OPO’s objective of delivering “Comfort Redefined, Service Unmatched.”
His new role will also focus on building stronger operational systems, mentoring teams, supporting property leadership and ensuring that every new OPO property is aligned with the organisation’s standards from the pre-opening stage itself.
The elevation marks another significant milestone in Mukesh Kumar Sharma’s hospitality journey—from mastering operational fundamentals to taking on a broader responsibility for brand excellence and organisational standards.
