Thiruvananthapuram, July 28: Strengthening the digital backbone of Kerala‘s healthcare sector, the Kerala Fibre Optic Network (KFON) has extended high speed internet connectivity to medical colleges and several key healthcare institutions across the state.
KFON has provided connectivity to the Government Medical Colleges in Kozhikode, Manjeri, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Wayanad, as well as to TD Medical College, Alappuzha. The network has also extended to other healthcare facilities, including the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC), Government Dental College, National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH), KIMSHEALTH, NIMS Hospital, and SK Hospital.
Beyond tertiary healthcare institutions, KFON has also expanded its network to Family Health Centres (FHCs), Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs), reinforcing digital infrastructure at every level of the public healthcare system.
“Robust digital infrastructure is essential to ensure that the benefits of technology reach more people in the healthcare sector,” said Sandip Kumar IAS, Managing Director, KFON. “By expanding high–speed connectivity to healthcare institutions, KFON is strengthening Kerala‘s public health ecosystem and supporting the state’s continued progress in delivering technology-enabled healthcare services,” he added.
KFON officials said the initiative is aimed at building a stronger digital foundation for healthcare delivery, enabling institutions across the state to provide more efficient, reliable and technology-driven services to the public.
