New Delhi: India is rapidly closing the gap with the US in advertising technology as brands and publishers increasingly adopt artificial intelligence-driven advertising formats. A recent industry report said AI-native advertising formats are expected to become mainstream in India within the next three years.

The shift is transforming several parts of the advertising ecosystem, including audience targeting, media buying, creative generation, campaign optimisation, attribution and performance measurement. AI is increasingly being integrated into the advertising workflow rather than being used simply as an additional tool.

India’s digital advertising market is also expanding rapidly, supported by the growth of programmatic advertising, online video, social media and retail media. Industry data shows programmatic buying accounted for 42 per cent of India’s digital media spending in 2025, underlining the country’s accelerating adoption of technology-led advertising.

The growing AI capabilities of Indian technology companies and advertising platforms could further strengthen the country’s position in the global AdTech ecosystem. With expertise in software engineering, machine learning and data technologies, India is increasingly moving from being an execution hub to developing AI-powered advertising products for global markets.
