New Delhi , June 18 : As sustainability continues to redefine the future of hospitality, The Westin Sohna Resort & Spa remains committed to creating meaningful environmental impact through responsible operations, resource conservation, and long-term sustainability initiatives. Nestled amidst the serene landscapes of Sohna, the resort has embedded sustainability into its everyday practices, balancing guest experiences with environmental stewardship.

The Westin Sohna Resort & Spa Weaves Sustainability Into Every Experience

Over the years, the resort has implemented a comprehensive framework of sustainable measures focused on energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, and responsible resource utilization. Key initiatives include rainwater harvesting, an advanced sewage treatment plant that recycles treated water for gardening and flushing, sensor-based water fixtures, low-flow showerheads, dual-flush systems, and water-efficient landscaping practices featuring native and low-water plants.

In its pursuit of reducing energy consumption, the resort has invested in energy-efficient lighting, heating, cooling systems, commercial kitchen equipment, occupancy-based energy controls, double-pane glazing, and smart lighting technologies such as timers, daylight sensors, and dimmers. These efforts have resulted in a 5.47% reduction in energy consumption in 2025 compared to the previous year and surpassed the property’s annual energy reduction target by achieving a 4.8% reduction against the targeted 3.5%.

Renewable energy also plays a growing role in the resort’s sustainability journey. A 96 KW solar-powered banquet and ballroom installation is already operational, while a larger 527 KW solar park is currently under development. Additional infrastructure upgrades, including a new energy-efficient chiller, cooling tower, and advanced sewage treatment plant, are set to further enhance operational efficiency and resource conservation.

The resort has also taken significant steps toward reducing waste and eliminating single-use plastics. From replacing disposable cutlery and packaging with reusable or compostable alternatives to eliminating plastic straws, stirrers, lids, and individually wrapped amenities, sustainability has been integrated across guest rooms, dining venues, meeting spaces, and back-of-house operations. Recycling programs, waste segregation systems, hazardous waste management protocols, and food waste reduction initiatives further support the resort’s circular approach to waste management.

Environmental quality remains a key focus area, supported by indoor air quality monitoring systems, advanced air filtration technology, regular air and soil testing, eco-friendly pest control methods, and the use of non-CFC refrigerants across all refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.

These efforts have been recognized through the achievement of ISO 14001:2015 certification, a globally recognized environmental management standard, along with an impressive 106% Sustainability Score in 2025. The resort also continues to align with Marriott International’s sustainability and resilience initiatives, including participation in the Marriott Infrastructure Resilience and Adaptation program, while supporting local sustainability projects within the community.

At The Westin Sohna Resort & Spa, sustainability is not a standalone initiative but an ongoing commitment one that seeks to create lasting value for guests, associates, the local community, and the environment.
