New Delhi, July 2: Shri Saleem Ahmad, Chairman and Managing Director of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited , today i.e. on 01 July 2026 assumed additional charge as Chairman and Managing Director of IRCON International Limited , a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Railways.
Immediately after assuming charge, Shri Ahmad had a busy and engaging first day at IRCON Corporate Office, New Delhi. He first held preliminary discussions with the Board of Directors and exchanged views on the company’s business position, strategic priorities and future growth trajectory.
He subsequently held an extensive review meeting with the senior management comprising Directors, Executive Directors, Chief General Managers, General Managers, Deputy General Managers, Managers and other senior officials from various departments and project verticals. Later, he also held a dedicated meeting with the Finance Team to review the company’s financials.
During the interactions, Shri Ahmad was presented with IRCON‘s Corporate Presentation and Corporate Film, providing him with an overview of the company’s achievements, capabilities, business portfolio and future plans.
During his meetings with the Board and senior management, Shri Saleem Ahmad emphasized disciplined execution, professionalism and result-oriented functioning. He observed that infrastructure projects operate in a challenging environment and require timely decisions, efficient implementation and close coordination across teams and functions. He emphasized realistic target setting, continuous monitoring and adherence to project schedules and commitments, while encouraging officers to take timely and bold decisions in the interest of the organization.
The CMD stressed that punctuality should extend beyond office timings to include timely completion of projects, prompt decision-making and swift corrective action wherever required.
Shri Ahmad reiterated that quality and safety must remain non-negotiable priorities and encouraged regular site visits, close project supervision and timely intervention wherever necessary. He also highlighted the importance of careful selection and effective monitoring of contractors and subcontractors and stressed that timely payments contribute significantly to smooth project execution.
The CMD underlined the importance of maintaining close engagement with stakeholders, including the Ministry of Railways, clients and project partners, while ensuring financial prudence and operational efficiency expected from a listed public sector enterprise.
Concluding the interaction, Shri Ahmad called upon employees to work with dedication, discipline and commitment to sustain the momentum of growth and contribute towards the national vision of Viksit Bharat.
His additional responsibility as CMD of IRCON is expected to further strengthen collaboration and synergy between two of the Ministry of Railways’ premier infrastructure PSUs and contribute to the accelerated development of India’s transport and connectivity infrastructure.
