Bhubaneswar, April 16(BNP): In a significant judgment, a Bhubaneswar court has sentenced seven individuals to three years of imprisonment for sharing sensitive information with a suspected foreign agent, raising serious concerns over cyber misuse and national security.

The Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court on Wednesday convicted the accused in a case involving OTP-based fraud, where confidential information was allegedly shared with a suspected Pakistani agent.

According to case records, the accused facilitated unauthorized access to sensitive data by sharing one-time passwords (OTPs), which were then used for illegal activities linked to foreign entities.

The court, after detailed examination of evidence, found the accused guilty and awarded a three-year jail term, underscoring the gravity of cyber offences that compromise national security.

Officials stated that the verdict sends a strong message against cyber fraud and misuse of personal information. Authorities have also urged the public to remain cautious and avoid sharing OTPs or sensitive details with unknown persons.

The case highlights the growing threat of cybercrime and the need for increased awareness and vigilance among citizens.
