Bhubaneswar, Sept. 19 (UDN): The Odisha government has announced the postings of a batch of officers recently inducted into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), assigning several of them as Joint Secretaries across key departments while allowing others to continue in their existing positions.
The appointments were notified by the General Administration and Public Grievance Department following the officers’ induction into the IAS cadre through a Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) notification issued on September 3, 2026.
Officers Appointed as Joint Secretaries
The following officers have been designated as Joint Secretaries in their respective departments:
Surya Narayan Dash – Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department
Soudamini Sethi – Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department
Jyotirmayee Pradhan – Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department
Madhumita Nayak – Labour and ESI Department; she will also continue to hold additional charge as Director, ESI, Bhubaneswar.
Babita Mohanty – Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department
Anuj Kumar Das Pattanaik – Planning and Convergence Department
Jyoti Ranjan Mishra – Industries Department
Subhra Mohanty – Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department
Sanghamitra Satapathy – Rural Development Department
Himansu Sekhar Behera – Home Department
Officers Retained in Existing Posts
The government has allowed several newly inducted IAS officers to continue in their present assignments:
Sumita Sarkar – Additional Commissioner, Settlement and Consolidation, Cuttack
Balamakunda Bhuyan – Director, Elementary Education, Odisha
Madhumita Nayak – Additional Commissioner, Settlement and Consolidation, Kendujhar, under the RDC (Northern Division), Sambalpur
Surendra Kumar Panda – Chief General Manager (MS&ME), IDCO, Bhubaneswar
The notification, issued on September 18 by order of the Governor, formalises the administrative responsibilities of the officers following their induction into the Odisha IAS cadre.
