Stuttgart, Sep 11: MAHLE demonstrates thermal management systems for all drive technologies in rail transport at InnoTrans 2026, showcasing solutions designed to support the performance, service life, and reliability of rail vehicles. The battery thermal management system increases the performance and service life of high-performance batteries in locomotives, while the combined cooling system for electric multiple units combines the cooling of several vehicle systems in one compact unit. Whether diesel, battery, hybrid, electric, or hydrogen: MAHLE will present thermal management solutions for all drive technologies in rail transport at the world’s largest international trade fair for railway and transport technology, “InnoTrans,” in Berlin.
The focus of the trade fair will be a battery thermal management system for locomotives. It ensures the precise temperature control of modern high-performance batteries in electric locomotives and is therefore an essential factor for their performance, service life and safety, even under demanding environmental conditions.
MAHLE will also showcase a compact combined cooling system for electric multiple units. The system cools several vehicle systems, including traction motors and transformers. High energy efficiency, low weight, and high reliability make the combined cooling system an economical and sustainable solution for rail operations.
MAHLE is a global systems supplier for complex traction cooling systems on high-speed trains and market leader in Europe. The MAHLE stand is located in Hall 18, Stand 460.

In addition to the BTMS and the combined cooling system for electric multiple units, MAHLE will also showcase fin/tube coolers and customized cooling plates for high-performance applications at InnoTrans. These include traction converters as a central element of power control of electric drives and battery systems of electric rail vehicles.
These applications place particularly high demands on cooling, as reliable temperature control is essential for the performance, safety and service life of the systems.
