Bangalore, June 4 : ITC Gardenia, Bengaluru, among the first in Asia to receive the USGBC LEED Platinum rating in 2009, now adds another milestone to its Responsible Luxury journey with LEED Zero Water Certification. This achievement distinguishes the property as a leader in sustainable hospitality, successfully balancing its total potable water consumption with recycled water sources. This certification follows the hotel’s previous milestones, including LEED Zero Carbon certification. Water stewardship remains a constant endeavour at ITC Gardenia with comprehensive rainwater harvesting systems and the state-of-the-art onsite bottling plant “SunyaAqua”.

ITC Gardenia may be considered a timely reminder that Bangalore has always been India’s ultimate Garden City. The wind-cooled Atrium Lobby, with its vertical hanging gardens, leads out to the Central Courtyard Garden, in the midst of which stands the multi-pillared Lotus Pavilion – its sloping roofs covered with a lawn of fresh green grass aptly referred to as a ‘Living Room with a Living Roof’.
From the energy used in the hotel to the food served in the restaurants, everything is built on the ethos of ‘Responsible Luxury’ at ITC Gardenia. Investment in the latest environment friendly technology provides all comforts of a ‘Super Deluxe Luxury Hotel’ yet ensures lesser carbon footprints, near to zero solid waste and water discharge. The hotel utilizes almost 100% renewable electricity for its entire electricity requirement.
The hotel is an inclusive blend of contemporary design and International Green Practices, a beacon in a bustling urban environment. Responsible Luxury is the adoption of contemporary and futuristic ‘Green Business Practices’ that also harness the elements of nature in an inspired setting for an exceptional guest experience.
“This recognition is a proud moment for all of us at ITC Gardenia. Attaining LEED Zero Water certification is a testament to our continuous efforts to encourage responsible water consumption. We shall continue to create meaningful hospitality experiences that are planet positive.” said Amandeep Kaur, General Manager, ITC Gardenia.
ITC Gardenia exemplifies ITC Hotel’s vision of finding common rhythm between man-made and natural environment, to see luxury and responsibility could be in harmony together. It has utilised innovation, cutting edge technology and design integration to earn new benchmarks in energy efficiency, water efficiency and low carbon techniques.
