Gandhinagar, Sep 1: Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation (GAIC) is expanding its focus on agricultural infrastructure and value-added businesses while contributing ₹15.37 crore in dividends to the state government for 2023-24 and 2024-25.
The dividend cheques were presented to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar. The amount includes ₹11.14 crore for 2023-24 and ₹4.23 crore for 2024-25.
GAIC, a Gujarat government undertaking, has been supporting farmers for decades by supplying fertilisers, agricultural inputs and machinery, while also working to strengthen agro-processing and related infrastructure.
The corporation currently serves farmers through around 1,156 Agri Business Centres across Gujarat. It is also developing an Agri Business and Innovation Hub at Tragad in Ahmedabad, which is expected to create new opportunities for agricultural businesses and innovation.
The corporation is also preparing plans for projects focused on GI-tagged products, millet value addition and banana fibre extraction and processing. Such initiatives can help farmers and rural businesses move beyond the sale of raw produce and earn more through processing and value addition.
The proposed projects reflect the growing importance of food processing, agricultural innovation and better market linkages in strengthening rural incomes.
With new infrastructure and value-added projects in the pipeline, GAIC is looking to connect farmers with wider business opportunities while supporting Gujarat’s broader agriculture and agro-processing economy.
The latest initiatives are expected to encourage investment in the agriculture sector, create opportunities for rural entrepreneurship and strengthen the state’s position as a hub for modern agro-processing and value-added agricultural products.
