Bhubaneswar, May 21 (BNP): In a major administrative decision aimed at ensuring uninterrupted government operations, the Government of Odisha has approved a two-month advance payment system for fuel expenses of government vehicles. The move comes amid growing uncertainty in fuel supply arrangements linked to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which had reportedly prompted petrol pumps to express concerns over continuing fuel supply under the existing month-end payment mechanism.
To maintain seamless functioning of official transport services, the state’s Finance Department has authorised all government departments and heads of departments to provide petrol pumps with advance payments equivalent to an estimated two months of fuel expenditure. The decision is intended to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability for government vehicles engaged in administrative and public service operations.
The decision is expected to strengthen operational continuity across government departments and prevent disruptions in essential mobility services during periods of supply uncertainty.
