New Delhi, Apr 27: Dr. Bhaskar Jyoti Sonowal has been elected President of the BRICS Entrepreneurs Alliance (BEA) Global Forum for the 2026–27 term, marking a significant milestone in India’s growing leadership within the BRICS+ economic ecosystem.

Currently serving as CEO and Executive Director of BEA India, Dr. Sonowal will lead the Alliance’s global strategy at a crucial time, as India prepares to host the BEA Global Summit in November 2026. His leadership is expected to strengthen cross-border trade, foster global partnerships and create new opportunities for Indian entrepreneurs, particularly in the MSME sector.

This development highlights India’s rising prominence as a hub for entrepreneurship and innovation. BEA aims to build a collaborative ecosystem based on trust, transparency and shared growth across BRICS+ nations.

Dr. Sonowal said, “I am honored to take on this responsibility at a time when Indian enterprises are poised to play a transformative role globally. My focus will be on creating meaningful opportunities and strengthening partnerships across BRICS+ nations.”

Mr. Thomas Lotha, Founder Vice President of BEA India, added, “This appointment creates a credible platform for Indian entrepreneurs to access global markets and drive economic growth.”

Mr. Evgeny Skomorovsky, President of BEA Russia, said, “This appointment will further strengthen India–Russia trade relations and unlock new opportunities.”

Mr. Fernando Soares, President of BEA Brazil, also expressed strong support for India’s leadership.

Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi, Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, highlighted that BEA India is an important forum for promoting entrepreneurship and MSME development in India. He noted that the MSME sector has introduced several schemes and it is essential for entrepreneurs and MSMEs to take full advantage of these initiatives to grow their businesses. He also emphasized that the Ministry of MSME is fully supporting the efforts of BEA India.

Dr. Raj Bhushan Choudhary, Minister of State for Jal Shakti, stated that Muzaffarpur and the state of Bihar represent significant grounds for new business growth. He pointed out that there are numerous opportunities in areas such as agro and food parks, education, healthcare and tourism facilities, which need to be developed further. He added that BEA India will support the state in creating plans to attract investments into these sectors. Together with BEA India, he expressed confidence in building a strong platform for entrepreneurs and MSMEs to flourish.
