Hyderabad, Aug 7: Yashoda Hospitals, Hitec City has successfully performed a complex double lung transplant on a 47-year-old patient diagnosed with Anti-synthetase Syndrome-associated Fibrotic Interstitial Lung Disease, offering him a new lease on life after two years of oxygen dependence. The patient had been living with progressive fibrotic ILD, a condition that causes irreversible scarring of the lungs, leading to severe respiratory failure. Despite receiving optimal medical treatment, his lung function continued to decline, leaving him dependent on long-term oxygen therapy. Following a comprehensive evaluation, a bilateral lung transplant was identified as the only definitive treatment to restore his breathing and quality of life.
