May 8: The Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Avantel Limited Dr. Abburi Vidyasagar, has contributed 60 lakh equity shares of the company to Lakshmee Foundation, currently valued at approximately ₹90 crore to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and expand access to affordable medical care in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The contribution will support the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to build a larger multi-specialty healthcare ecosystem in Vijayawada, bringing critical medical services closer to underserved communities. The planned expansion is expected to include advanced facilities across medicine, surgery, women and child healthcare, cardiac care, emergency medicine and intensive care, alongside integrated diagnostics and laboratory services.

In 2024, Dr. Vidyasagar also donated 45 lakh shares of Avantel Limited, with a realised value of approximately ₹76.44 crore, to support healthcare programs, hospital operations, and community outreach initiatives.

“Access to quality healthcare continues to remain out of reach for many families,” said Dr. Abburi Vidyasagar. “Through this contribution, we hope to strengthen long-term healthcare infrastructure and support initiatives that create lasting community impact.”

Established in 2010 in memory of Late Smt. Abburi Lakshmeekantham, Lakshmee Foundation has spent the past sixteen years working across healthcare, education, women welfare, orphan support, old age care and humanitarian relief initiatives.

What began as a small polyclinic in Vijayawada has steadily evolved into a growing healthcare institution. Today, the Foundation operates a 20-bed multi-specialty hospital that serves nearly 90 patients every day and has provided care to close to 60,000 people over the last three years alone.

Across its initiatives, the Foundation has impacted more than 99,000 lives through medical camps, cataract surgeries, diagnostics, livelihood programs and community healthcare services.

The upcoming hospital expansion, envisaged as a 150+ bed multi-speciality facility, is expected to further strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the region by improving access to medical services across specialties under one roof. The initiative is also expected to help address the growing demand for healthcare services in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, particularly for patients seeking access to diagnostics, emergency care, critical care, and long-term treatment facilities closer to their communities.
