Thiruvananthapuram, April 21(BNP) : HLL Lifecare Limited (HLL), a Mini Ratna public sector enterprise under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has announced the implementation of three new projects aimed at enhancing production capacity and advancing sustainable operational efficiency.
As part of its expansion initiatives, HLL has commissioned a technologically upgraded 3-Dip Condom Manufacturing Machine at its facility in Irapuram. The advanced system is designed to significantly boost output and enable the production of specialized condom variants, including ultrathin and multi-textured products, catering to both government programmes and commercial markets.
In addition, the company has launched a Lube Augmentation Project to expand its personal lubricant manufacturing capacity, further strengthening its portfolio in reproductive healthcare products.
Reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, HLL has also introduced the use of environment-friendly fuel for boiler operations, marking a key step towards reducing environmental impact while improving energy efficiency across its manufacturing processes.
The three projects were inaugurated by Anitha Thampi, Chairperson and Managing Director of HLL.
Legacy and Impact
HLL’s Peroorkada Factory, established on April 5, 1969, remains a cornerstone of its manufacturing operations. Today, it stands as one of the largest condom manufacturing facilities globally, with an annual production capacity of 1,246 million units.
In the last financial year, the facility distributed over 100 crore condoms exclusively for national family planning programmes and HIV/AIDS prevention initiatives, underscoring HLL’s critical role in public health and social impact.
