Employees across CARE Hospitals and Aster Hospitals participate virtually in the organisation-wide initiative

Hyderabad, Sept 08: Aster DM Quality Care Limited marked World Physiotherapy Day 2026 with an organisation-wide employee awareness session on “Ergonomics at Workplace,” highlighting the importance of healthy posture, regular movement and preventive practices in reducing work-related musculoskeletal problems.

The session was hosted from the Aster DM Quality Care office in Hyderabad, with employees from CARE Hospitals and Aster Hospitals across the organisation participating virtually, extending the workplace wellbeing initiative across the hospital network.

The session was led by Dr. Vibha Siddannavar, Senior Physiotherapist, CARE Hospitals, Hitech City, who shared practical guidance on maintaining correct posture, setting up workstations appropriately, incorporating regular movement and stretching breaks, and recognising early signs of physical strain associated with prolonged sitting and repetitive work habits.

With professionals increasingly spending long hours at desks and in front of digital screens, poor workplace ergonomics can contribute to discomfort involving the neck, shoulders, back and wrists. The session encouraged employees to make simple changes to their everyday working routines, including correcting sitting posture, positioning screens appropriately, taking short movement breaks and avoiding remaining in the same position for extended periods.

Dr. Vibha Siddannavar, Physiotherapist, said, “Many of the aches and pains we experience at work develop gradually because of poor posture, prolonged sitting and repetitive movements. Small changes in the way we sit, move and organise our workstations can make a meaningful difference. It is important to listen to the body and address discomfort early rather than allowing it to become a persistent problem.”

Dr. Amit Singh, Group Chief Human Resources Officer (India II), Aster DM Quality Care Limited, said, “Our people are at the heart of healthcare delivery, and their wellbeing is fundamental to building a strong organisation. As work patterns evolve, we need to pay greater attention to everyday habits that affect physical health. Bringing our CARE and Aster teams together for this initiative is part of our effort to make preventive health and wellbeing an integral part of our workplace culture.”

The programme also included practical demonstrations and guidance to help employees understand how everyday workplace habits can influence musculoskeletal health, physical wellbeing and productivity.

The initiative reflects Aster DM Quality Care’s focus on building a healthier and more people-centric workplace, while encouraging employees across its hospital network to incorporate movement, preventive health practices and better ergonomics into their daily routines.

Observed annually on 8 September, World Physiotherapy Day recognises the contribution of physiotherapists and raises awareness about the role of physiotherapy in supporting mobility, physical function, prevention and quality of life.
