Mumbai, India June 26: Amazon MX Player, India’s leading free, premium, ad-supported video streaming service, recently launched its period drama Made in India: A Titan Story, chronicling the extraordinary journey behind the creation of one of India’s most iconic brands. In the series, Lakshvir Singh Saran essays the role of Gaurav Dhar, a young engineer navigating the challenges of innovation, ambition, and personal growth at a pivotal moment in the company’s history.
For Lakshvir, the experience of portraying Gaurav was as enriching as the story itself, offering him the chance to explore a character caught between professional aspirations and an evolving personal journey, all within the meticulously recreated world of Titan.
Recalling his experience, Lakshvir shared, “In terms of character, it was very exciting to play the two tracks simultaneously. One was the professional tension of building a watch company, and the other was the yearning for love and partnership with a co-worker. Once both were achieved in some manner, the balancing act became even more crucial. The world, on the other hand, was easier to fall into. The reason being the makers. From the production quality to actually shooting in the factory, surrounded by people making watches right next to us in real time, everything helped us as actors believe in the world of TITAN and experience it firsthand. The discipline, the diligence, and the spirit of working together as a family were all on display for us to witness.”
Sharing a memory that continues to stay with him, he added, “Each and every day felt like the first day. I walked into a boardroom designed down to the smallest detail. I saw board members in their thick linen suits, already in their seats, with a massive Jamsetji Tata statue at the end of the long table. I looked down after taking my position near the table and found a leather-wrapped diary with the Tata logo embossed on it. Then, finally, a semi-bald man walked in, dressed as well as one possibly can be, with a spring in his step as though he was on a mission. He greeted each member with strong eye contact and stood at the head of the table. Xerxes was ready to pitch the idea of making a watch. I was the new engineer standing next to him, enamoured by this new world of Tatas.”
