Guwahati, Sep 22: The trailer of Dipholu, the upcoming Assamese feature film from Borluit Productions, was unveiled today at Matrix Cinemas, Beltola, marking an important milestone in the film’s journey towards its theatrical release on October 9, 2026.
The trailer launch was attended by members of the film’s cast and crew, including lead actors Amrita Gogoi, Subrat Deori, and prominent personalities from Assam’s film and cultural fraternity including Mridula Baruah, Arun Nath, Arun Hazarika, Purnada Hazarika and several members of the media. Directed by Nekib and produced by Jekiv, Dipholu tells a story that is rooted in the realities of Assamese village life. The film blends humour, emotion and social consciousness while celebrating the culture, traditions and spirit of Assam.
The occasion also saw veteran Assamese actress Chetana Das being felicitated in recognition of her recent Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for 2025. Das, who received the prestigious honour from President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi in August, was recognised for her distinguished contribution to theatre and acting. Team Dipholu and the members of the film fraternity and those present at the event congratulated the celebrated artiste on the national honour and acknowledged her decades-long contribution to Assamese theatre and cinema.
The trailer offers audiences a glimpse into the world of Dipholu and the journey of its protagonist who encounters people and experiences that gradually alter their perspective on life. The film seeks to explore the human connections that emerge in the most unexpected circumstances, while remaining closely connected to the lived realities of rural Assam.
Speaking at the trailer launch, director Nekib said,
“The trailer launch is a very special moment for us because Dipholu has been such a personal and long journey. We are extremely happy to finally share a glimpse of that world with the audience and are looking forward to bringing the complete film to theatres on October 9.”
The film carries an added emotional significance through its music, featuring Xorogi Xopun, one of the last songs recorded by celebrated Assamese singer Zubeen Garg and his last duet with singer Gayatri Hazarika. The soundtrack also features another peppy romantic number Prem Baru sung by Zubeen Garg and Rupali Kashyap, adding a vibrant musical dimension to the film’s portrayal of love and relationships. The soundtrack also features songs by Rakesh Reeyan and Montumoni Saikia. The lyrics have been written by Nekib, while the music has been composed and directed by Jekiv. One of the songs has also been penned by Gargee Bhattacharjee.
Dipholu marks Borluit Productions’ entry into feature-length cinema following its internationally acclaimed short films. The film features an ensemble cast including Amrita Gogoi, Subrat Deori, Mridula Baruah, Arun Nath, Arun Hazarika, Purnada Hazarika, Rajib Dowari, Jotishman Bora, Kanika Nath, Anirban Kalita, Ankur Baidya, Dr. Hitesh Baruah, Simashree Bora, Priyanshi Kashyap and Dibyapratim Bhagawati.
With the trailer now unveiled, the makers are gearing up for the final leg of Dipholu’s promotional campaign ahead of its theatrical release.
