National Forensic Sciences University-Chennai opens admissions for cybersecurity & criminology programmes

The premier university, an Institution of National Importance under Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, offers students opportunities to build careers in forensic science, cybersecurity, criminology, and crime scene investigation. The NFSU has 16 campuses across India, including the Chennai Campus.

Sharing his thoughts on the university, Shri Narendra Modi,  Prime Minister of India, had earlier said,

“Forensic science, the police, and the judiciary are three important pillars to ensure a criminal justice delivery system so that citizens feel safe and crime is kept under check. I call upon forensic experts to help the judiciary by using DNA profiling as much as possible so that culprits of brutal rape cases are punished immediately and the victims get justice. We can investigate only on the basis of scientific research and technology… The criminals should fear that they will be caught by law. This fear also acts as a deterrent.”

Further, Shri Amit Shah,  Union Home Minister, had stated,

“We have taken a bold decision and it has been made mandatory for a Forensic Science Officer to visit the crime scene of offences which have a punishment of 7 years or more. This will simplify the investigation, make it easier for judges, and simplify the prosecution.”

Among the flagship programmes offered at the Chennai Campus are the M.Sc. Forensic Science Programme, M.Sc. Cyber Security Programme, B.Sc. Criminology and Forensic Science Programme, and Postgraduate Professional Diploma in Crime Scene Management.

Dr. J.M. Vyas, Founder-Vice Chancellor, National Forensic Sciences University , said,

“Our endeavour is to touch the lives of every student by inculcating prudence, efficiency, and a deep commitment to human values. We want our campuses to be the ultimate breeding ground for positive ideas and to emerge as the primary forensic science think tank of the country. Higher education is that which does not merely give us information, but also makes our life harmonious. By training police officers, judges, and scientists from India and over 70 friendly foreign nations, we are executing a massive effort in global capacity building.”
