Amity Law School, Amity University Noida, organized the 16th Amity International Moot Court Competition-2026, on the theme “Regulating Artificial Intelligence in International Law – Drones, UAVs and Machines and the case concerning State Sponsored Warfare”, from 6th-10th October 2026. 28 national teams and 5 international teams participated in the prestigious competition. Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Indore was adjudged the winner of the national round of the competition, while Kathmandu School of Law won the international round. Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Chandigarh, secured the runner-up trophy. The Best Memorial Award was presented to the team from Lloyd Law School, while Vidhi Singh of Symbiosis Law School received the Best Researcher Award.
Encouraging the students during the Valedictory Ceremony, Justice Saurabh Banerjee, Judge, Delhi High Court, averred, “A good lawyer must always remain alert and attentive.” Congratulating the participants, he further added, “Achieving victory requires facing setbacks along the way.” He called upon the students to never give up, continue making consistent efforts, and work hard towards fulfilling their dreams.
Sharing his words of wisdom, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Education Group, said, “The International Moot Court Competition was not merely a competition but a realistic and enriching courtroom experience for the participants. Becoming a good lawyer requires more than reading law books. Patience, sharp intellect, and a deep commitment to justice are equally important.” He motivated the students to seek inspiration and guidance from the judges present at the event and focus towards achieving their goals.
Motivating the students, Justice Girish Kathpalia, Judge, Delhi High Court, observed that individuals can become winners in life through persistent efforts and honesty. He emphasized that law students must become the voice of ordinary people who struggle to have their concerns heard and to obtain their rightful entitlements and justice. He encouraged the students to keep the welfare of ordinary people in mind alongside their academic pursuits and professional ambitions.
Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor Amity University Uttar Pradesh, stated that artificial intelligence is being used across various fields. By using AI appropriately and responsibly, students can benefit from its applications in research and legal writing. She noted that India is progressing towards becoming a developed nation and law students have an important role to play in this journey.
Justice Sandeep Kumar De, Judge, Calcutta High Court described the journey of students from classroom to courtroom as an interesting and enriching experience. He advised the students to continue reading books rather than relying solely on artificial intelligence, as reading helps in developing a sound understanding of legal concepts. He emphasized that accurate and precise knowledge of facts is essential in the legal profession. He encouraged the students to use AI as a supportive tool while ensuring that it does not dominate their independent thinking or judgement.
Sharing his views on the occasion, Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava, former Chief Justice, Madras High Court, advised the students to visit courts whenever they have time beyond their academic commitments to understand how judicial proceedings function. He told them to observe how legal documents are prepared and presented, since such practical exposure would prove valuable in their professional careers.
Dr. D. K. Bandyopadhyay, Chairman, Amity Law School, said that the event was not simply a celebration of competition but also an initiative to prepare students for their future careers. He highlighted that every challenge brings an opportunity and students should remain prepared to address difficulties and overcome obstacles.
Dr. Shefali Raizada, Director, Amity Law School, welcomed the guests and provided detailed information about the 16th Amity International Moot Court Competition 2026. On this occasion, a Souvenir and legal Journal were also released by the esteemed dignitaries. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Arvind P. Bhanu, Additional Director, Amity Law School.
