July 22: On June 30, the Master of Health Science degree hosted a welcome reception for 21 incoming MHS students and their mentors.
This year’s trainees come from eight Yale School of Medicine departments: anesthesiology, emergency medicine, hematology/oncology, internal medicine, neurology, pulmonary, critical care, sleep medicine, and surgery. This year’s cohort also includes one external trainee.
Lauren Sansing, MD, MS, director of the MHS degree and professor of neurology and immunobiology, gave welcome remarks and introduced the MHS team to the new cohort.
The incoming class is spread among the concentrations, with four students in the Medical Education concentration, and six each in the Clinical Informatics & Data Science, Clinical Investigation , and Health Services, Policy, and Outcomes concentrations. Each concentration offers research-in-progress seminars, comprehensive training and coursework, as well as structured cohort building and peer-to-peer mentoring.
The incoming cohort has a range of academic roles including associate and assistant professors, instructors, fellows, residents, and pharmacologists.
This year, the MHS degree program is launching a quarterly discussion series, known as BoLstering Interdisciplinary Science Series , which will focus on research topics and career development across the four concentrations.
The application for next year’s MHS cohort will launch on Sep. 1, 2026.
