KIIT World School, Gurugram Celebrates 80th Independence Day with Patriotic Fervour

Gurugram: KIIT World SchoolGurugram, celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. A special assembly was organised on the theme ‘Honouring Freedom, Inspiring the Future’, featuring a special student presentation titled ‘Echoes of Freedom — Azaadi Ki Goonj’, which highlighted the spirit of freedom, sacrifice and patriotism.

The programme was graced by Retired Colonel Sant Pal Raghav as the Chief Guest. Colonel Raghav has served the Indian Army for 39 years and has been part of several significant military operations, including service in Siachen, the Kargil War and Jammu & Kashmir. For his distinguished service, he was also honoured with an Army Commander’s Commendation. After retirement, he has continued to contribute to society through his work in environmental conservation and social service, while inspiring young people to embrace patriotism, leadership and the spirit of service.

Addressing the students, Colonel Sant Pal Raghav spoke about India’s rich history, courage and knowledge traditions. Referring to ancient India and the era of Acharya Chanakya, he highlighted the contributions of great personalities and freedom fighters who shaped the nation’s journey. He reminded students that the freedom enjoyed today is the result of the struggles, sacrifices and determination of generations of Indians.

The student presentation, ‘Echoes of Freedom — Azaadi Ki Goonj’, brought alive the journey and spirit of India’s freedom through a vibrant and engaging performance. The presentation reflected the students’ understanding of the significance of Independence and the responsibilities that come with freedom.

Speaking on the occasion, Neelima Kamrah, Principal, KIIT World SchoolGurugram, said, “Independence Day is not only a celebration of freedom but also an opportunity to remind ourselves of our responsibilities. Today’s students will shape the future of our country. Our endeavour is to ensure that along with academic learning, children also understand the values of patriotism, discipline, sensitivity and responsibility. The dedication and enthusiasm with which our students presented ‘Azaadi Ki Goonj’ was truly commendable.”

The celebration concluded with a renewed sense of pride and responsibility among the students, encouraging them to value the sacrifices of the past and contribute positively towards building a stronger and more responsible India.
