Sanctoria, May 16 : Eastern Coalfields Ltd. (ECL) concluded its Rajbhasha (Hindi) Internship Programme aimed at strengthening awareness and practical skills in India’s official language policy among undergraduate students, marking a new outreach initiative for the state-run coal miner.

ECL Concludes Hindi Internship Initiative to Build Language Skills and Cultural Literacy

The valedictory session was held at ECL’s Human Resource Development auditorium on May 13, following a 12-day programme conducted from April 28. The initiative, jointly organised by the company’s Human Resource Development and Rajbhasha departments, was designed for sixth-semester B.A. (Hindi) students from Kulti College.

 
Shri Arun Kumar, General Manager (E&M), attended as Chief Guest, while Shri Vivek Kumar, Technical Secretary to the Director (HR) and Head of Rajbhasha, was the Guest of Honour. Senior Manager (HR) P. Sahani was also present.
 
The internship spanned 60 hours across 12 working days and covered key areas including the Government of India’s official language policy, implementation mechanisms, Hindi committees, annual programmes for promoting Hindi in official work, inspection systems, translation practices, technical terminology and digital Hindi tools. Participants were also introduced to publications, incentive schemes and global initiatives such as World Hindi Day and the World Hindi Secretariat.
 
The programme combined theoretical inputs with practical exposure and all participants were awarded completion certificates.
 
ECL said the initiative aims to build linguistic competence and cultural understanding among students from nearby colleges and universities, helping them develop professional skills and civic awareness. Students from Kulti College demonstrated strong engagement and professionalism during the programme.
 
The company acknowledged the contributions of Rajbhasha officials Ms. Rupa Mitra and Ms. Sumedha Bharti in successfully executing the programme.
 
Aligned with the constitutional mandate to promote India’s composite culture, ECL said the internship marks the beginning of a new initiative from FY 2026–27, launched under the guidance of its Chairman-cum-Managing Director to expand the use and reach of Hindi in official and social domains.
