Amity’s youth newspaper, The Global Times, organized the Grand Finale of the 17th Youth Power, a year-long social sensitising leadership programme for Amity Group of Schools, which prepares the youth to ‘Be the change’ and ‘Bring the change’. Amity International School Noida and Amity International School Pushp Vihar were jointly adjudged as the winners of Youth Power–2025–26. The team from AIS Vasundhara Sector-1 was the first Runner Up and AIS Saket and AIS Gurugram Sector- 43 were jointly announced the second Runner Up. In addition, AIS Gurugram, Sector- 46 was declared the winner of “Jury Special Mention Award”.
This year, witnessed an array of unique, out of the box, social issues being undertaken by the schools such as Autism Awareness (AIS Noida), Combating Insomnia (AIS Vasundhara, Sector-1, Mindful Plantation (AIS Vasundhara, Sector- 6), Energy Conservation (AIS VKC Lucknow), Hyper-Consumerism (AIS VYC Lucknow), Air Pollution (AIS Jagdishpur), First-aid Awareness (AIS Gwalior), Financial Literacy (AIS Pushp Vihar), Fight Vitiligo Sensitisation (AIS Saket), Eco-friendly Celebrations (AIS Gurugram 46), Reducing Caffeine Consumption (AIS Gurugram 43), PCOD/PCOS Awareness (AIS Mayur Vihar).
The teams presented their ideas, impact stories, and powerful awareness messages through a spectrum of creative expressions which included dance drama, qawwali, poetry, choir with rap, puppet theatre, musical band, ballet, stand-up comedy and fashion show. The cultural acts and presentations of the teams were evaluated and assessed by jury members Ms. Aarti Srivastava, Professor and head of Department of Higher and Professional Education, National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) and Ms. Manisha Ahlawat, Founder of ‘School of Nature’ Member of UP State Women’s Commission, Founder-partner at Kunzum Bookstores.
Lauding students’ presentations, Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Group of Schools, said, “The students delivered outstanding presentations, each reflecting impressive creativity and thoughtful effort. Their interpretation and expression of the themes were truly noteworthy, making it difficult to single out any one team—every group performed like a winner. Through Youth Power, we remain committed to fostering in our students the values of sensitivity, compassion, confidence, care, and creative thinking.” She also appreciated their choice of unique social impact ideas and their penchant to take their learning beyond the classrooms and make their education purposeful, emphasizing upon the importance of meaningful life and urged them to keep striving for larger goals.
Chief Guest, Dr Rashmi Singh (IAS), Secretary, Dept of Women & Child Development, Government of NCT of Delhi, Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), Chairperson of Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) deeply appreciated the social causes undertaken by the Youth Power teams and admired the efficiency of the Youth Power Program in imparting education with social responsibility and social responsiveness. She motivated the students to keep striving for achieving freedom of thoughts and actions through education and use platforms like Youth Power to serve the nation above self. She also urged the students to dedicate themselves to community service and create an impact on the society through their selfless dedication and hard work.
Welcoming the guests, Mrs. Vira Sharma, Managing Editor, The Global Times, said, “Youth Power, a visionary initiative of our Chairperson Ma’am, Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, has successfully completed 17 years of nurturing ethical leaders and social change ambassadors at Amity, shaping young minds into ethical leaders and socially responsible citizens through 170 causes and more than 7000 activities. The programme has raised awareness about several social issues, sensitised over five lakh students and developed more than 2,000 ethical leaders across India.”
During the Programme, awards under various categories were presented to different school teams, including The Best Ground Survey (AIS Gwalior), Best Rally for the Cause (AIS VKC Lucknow), Best Panel Discussion (AIS Jagdishpur), Best Social Implementation (AIS Vasundhara 6), Best Fundraising Model (AIS VYC Lucknow), Best Awareness Movie (AIS Mayur Vihar), and many others.
