Bengaluru, July 27: TechnoSport, India’s largest activewear brand, has launched FeatherLite, a new performance fabric developed specifically for the 15th edition of the Punit Balan Group Presents Satara Hill Half Marathon Powered by TechnoSport, and unveiled the event’s official jersey made using the fabric. The launch forms part of TechnoSport’s three-year association with the event for the 2026–2028 editions.
The launch event was graced by the presence of Shri Nikhil Pingle, Superintendent of Police, Satara, along with representatives from the event’s partners, members of the Satara Runners Foundation, volunteers and the RunSatara community.
Designed around Satara’s hill course and local weather conditions, the jersey has been developed to support runners through changing elevations, sustained effort and prolonged outdoor exposure. TechnoSport drew on its in-house R&D and vertically integrated manufacturing capabilities to develop the fabric around the specific demands of the marathon.
Made using an 80-denier bicomponent filament yarn and a lightweight 120 GSM construction, the finished jersey weighs approximately 94 grams. FeatherLite retains the durability required for endurance activity, while its proprietary opaque-mesh construction supports airflow and heat dissipation without compromising opacity or its clean, premium appearance.
The fabric’s moisture-management functionality is engineered into the filament, with capillary channels moving sweat away from the skin and across the fabric surface for faster evaporation. As the functionality is inherent to the fibre, it is designed to remain effective through repeated washing. FeatherLite also incorporates four-way stretch, anti-static properties and TechnoSport’s proprietary antimicrobial technology to help inhibit odour-causing bacteria. UPF 50+ protection, which blocks up to 98% of harmful UV rays, supports runners during extended outdoor activity. Together, these attributes help the jersey remain lightweight, breathable and non-clingy as intensity builds.
Organised by the Satara Runners Foundation, the run brings together amateur and seasoned runners on one of India’s most challenging and scenic marathon routes. The 2026 marathon is expected to bring together more than 10,000 runners and marks the event’s 15th edition. It will be held under the theme “Pace for Peace,” encouraging participants to find peace within themselves, with one another and with the world around them.
The association brings TechnoSport’s Real Movement philosophy to life, reflecting the belief that movement is not limited to elite sport or structured fitness, but belongs to real people pursuing progress in their own way. By supporting an established, community-led running platform, TechnoSport aims to encourage wider participation, strengthen India’s running culture and make endurance sport more accessible and aspirational.
Speaking about the launch, Sandeep Jhunjhunwala, Director, TechnoSport, said,
“The Satara Hill Half Marathon gave us an opportunity to develop a jersey around the actual conditions runners will experience on the course. FeatherLite™ brings together our understanding of Indian conditions, fabric engineering and vertically integrated manufacturing capabilities to deliver meaningful performance benefits. The association also brings our Real Movement philosophy to life by encouraging more people to embrace movement and participate in India’s growing running culture.”
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Puspen Maity, CEO, Technosport, said,
“Western Maharashtra has always been an important market for TechnoSport, with Pune, Kolhapur and the surrounding regions consistently ranking among our strongest performing markets. It’s a geography where running, outdoor activity and fitness are deeply embedded in the culture, making the Satara Hill Half Marathon a natural platform for us.”
Speaking on the partnership, Patralika Agrawal, Head of Marketing, Technosport, said,
“Our ambition has always been to democratise activewear while building products that are purposefully engineered for Indian conditions. Beyond introducing a new performance fabric, this association reflects our commitment to investing in communities that have embraced the brand and to creating products that are designed around the way India moves. As we continue to champion Real Movement, our goal is to inspire more people to participate in running with products created specifically for them.”
Alongside the jersey, TechnoSport also unveiled the FeatherLite product film, highlighting the thinking and fabric engineering behind the new material.
