SRM Medical College Hospital Unveils Comprehensive Rehabilitation Centre with Multidisciplinary Care

Chennai, August 24, 2026: SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Institute has inaugurated a comprehensive rehabilitation centre for children and adults at its premises. It is aimed at providing integrated, personalised, goal-oriented and multidisciplinary rehabilitation services under one roof.

The centre was inaugurated by Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar, Founder Chancellor, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), in the presence of Dr. P. Sathyanarayanan, Pro-Chancellor (Academics), SRMIST.

The centre is designed to provide a coordinated rehabilitation journey for patients recovering from illness, injury or surgery, as well as those living with developmental challenges. It brings together a multidisciplinary team comprising rehabilitation physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and swallowing specialists, rehabilitation nurses, psychologists and counsellors, nutritionists, and orthotics and assistive technology specialists.

By integrating clinical and therapy services and actively involving patients’ families in the rehabilitation process, the centre aims to help individuals achieve greater independence, functionality and quality of life.

For children, the centre offers a comprehensive range of services including autism and early intervention programmes, speech and language therapy, ADHD and behavioural support, cerebral palsy rehabilitation, occupational therapy, special education, and developmental and functional assessments.

For adults, the centre focuses on improving strength, mobility, balance and endurance through medical rehabilitation, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, gait and mobility training, speech and swallowing care, pain and spasticity management, psychological support, nutrition and wellness services, orthotics and assistive technology.

The centre also offers wellness therapies, home-based rehabilitation, nursing and care, providing patients with continued support beyond the hospital setting. Through its multidisciplinary and patient-centric approach, the centre seeks to provide a seamless continuation of rehabilitation care customised as per the needs and goals of each person.
