New Delhi: Development Commissioner ( Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, is organizing the Special Handloom Expo “Soot Sangam – A Confluence of Threads” at Handloom Haat, Janpath, New Delhi. The exhibition is being held with the support of the National Design Centre and India Handloom and will take place from 24 June to 1 July 2026, bringing together weavers from across the country to showcase their rich handloom traditions and handcrafted products.
The eight-day expo will remain open to the public daily from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The exhibition aims to promote India’s rich handloom heritage, provide wider market access to weavers, and connect consumers with authentic handloom products.
More than 70 weavers, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and cooperative societies from across the country will participate in the expo. Visitors will get an opportunity to explore and purchase a diverse range of traditional handloom products, innovative designs, and handcrafted textiles from different states under one roof.
The exhibition will feature authentic handloom silk and cotton sarees, suit-dupatta sets, shawls, stoles, bed sheets, home furnishings, kurtas, dhotis, durries, and other handcrafted products from states including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
More than just an exhibition, Soot Sangam is a celebration of India’s diverse handloom traditions, vibrant colours, and cultural heritage. The platform seeks to establish direct interaction between artisans and consumers while promoting local products and strengthening the spirit of “My Handloom, My Pride.”
This initiative of the Development Commissioner for Handlooms is a significant step towards strengthening the handloom sector, empowering the livelihoods of weavers, and bringing greater recognition to India’s rich textile heritage.
