New Delhi, Aug 16: In a creative and environmentally conscious celebration of India’s 80th Independence Day, young volunteers of Smiling Tree created an innovative representation of the Indian Tricolour using discarded sticks and bottle caps. As part of the initiative, Smiling Tree also distributed Tulsi planters to the participating volunteers, combining patriotism, creativity and a commitment to greener living.
The unique Tricolour installation transformed everyday waste materials into a vibrant display of saffron, white and green, with the Ashoka Chakra incorporated into the artwork. The activity demonstrated how materials that are often discarded can be creatively reused to create meaningful environmental art.
The young volunteers collected and repurposed used bottle caps and sticks, giving them a new purpose while spreading awareness about recycling and responsible consumption. The activity provided an opportunity for young participants to celebrate Independence Day while learning that environmental responsibility can begin with simple everyday actions.
As an additional gesture towards encouraging greener habits, Smiling Tree presented Tulsi planters to the volunteers who participated in the Independence Day activity. The planters were intended to encourage participants to bring greenery into their homes and develop a closer connection with plants and nature.
