Mumbai, June 29: In a significant development for creators embracing analogue storytelling, Monsoon Colour Lab, a lab reviving the 85-year legacy of Film Lab India, has entered into a strategic partnership with Prasad Corp, one of India’s most respected names in motion picture post-production, film preservation and media technology.

Prasad Corp and Monsoon Colour Lab Partner to Build India's End-to-End Film Production Ecosystem

The collaboration aims to build a modern film-to-digital infrastructure for India’s growing community of filmmakers choosing to shoot on film. Together, Monsoon Colour Lab and Prasad Corp will offer a seamless workflow spanning film processing, native 4K scanning, restoration, colour grading, and post-production services across 35mm, 16mm and Super8 formats.

At a time when shooting on film is witnessing a remarkable resurgence globally, the partnership seeks to make analogue production more accessible and sustainable for creators across India and South Asia. By establishing a robust local ecosystem that supports productions from camera negative to final screen delivery, Monsoon Colour Lab and Prasad Corp aim to provide world-class capabilities closer to home.

The collaboration also addresses a long-standing industry need for integrated film infrastructure within India. By enabling processing, scanning and post-production services locally, the partnership helps reduce dependence on overseas facilities, improving turnaround times and operational efficiencies for productions choosing to shoot on film.

A key strength of the partnership is Prasad Corp’s deployment of the Scanity HDR, a native 4K film scanner capable of scanning camera negatives at speeds of up to 15 frames per second while preserving the unique aesthetic qualities of film. The system delivers pristine 4K digital rushes through an efficient dailies pipeline and can also generate cost-effective lower-resolution viewing copies for production teams. These capabilities allow creators to enjoy the artistic advantages of film while benefiting from rapid digital access to footage during production.

Over the past few months, the combined capabilities of Monsoon Colour Lab and Prasad Corp have already supported three feature films, one shot on 35mm and two on 16mm, along with several short films, advertisements and music videos, reflecting the growing interest in film-based production among today’s creators.

Speaking about the partnership, Abhishek Prasad, Director & CTO, Prasad Corp, said:

“Film continues to offer a unique creative experience that many filmmakers value deeply. Through this partnership, Prasad Corp is ensuring that creators in India have access to world-class film processing, scanning and post-production infrastructure locally. Together, we are helping preserve the legacy of film while enabling its future for a new generation of storytellers.”

Karan Talwar, Founder, Monsoon Colour Lab, added:

“This collaboration creates a complete ecosystem for creators looking to work on film. By combining Monsoon Colour Lab’s processing expertise with Prasad Corp’s advanced scanning and post-production capabilities, we are making analogue production more practical, accessible and reliable for filmmakers in India.”
