New Delhi, Aug 19: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has begun a three-day visit to Singapore to strengthen trade, investment and business ties between the two countries.
Goyal, who will be in Singapore from August 19 to 21, will take part in the fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable and the India-Singapore Business Roundtable on Thursday.
Around 70 Indian business leaders from sectors such as technology, artificial intelligence, manufacturing, infrastructure, finance, healthcare, agriculture, logistics and professional services are accompanying the Minister.
The business delegation will meet Singaporean companies and institutions to explore new partnerships, investment opportunities, technology cooperation, market access and skill development.
Goyal is also scheduled to meet senior Singaporean leaders and business representatives during the visit. He will also visit an initiative by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and Singapore’s FairPrice to promote Indian food and agricultural products in the Singapore market.
The visit comes as economic ties between India and Singapore continue to expand. Singapore was India’s largest source of foreign direct investment in FY 2025-26, with inflows of around USD 19.8 billion.
Bilateral trade has also grown strongly, rising from USD 6.7 billion in FY 2004-05 to around USD 36.1 billion in FY 2025-26.
The visit is expected to give fresh momentum to business cooperation and create more opportunities for Indian companies in areas including technology, manufacturing, food, finance and infrastructure.
It also reflects India’s efforts to deepen its economic partnership with Singapore and attract greater investment while expanding the reach of Indian businesses in international markets.
