Bengaluru, September 24, 2026: Optimo Capital, a lender providing loans against property to small business owners, today announced the appointment of Mr. Shrimohan Yadav to its Board as an Independent Director.
Mr. Yadav spent 29 years at the Reserve Bank of India. For five of those years, he served as Chief General Manager in the Department of Regulation, overseeing the licensing and ownership of private sector banks, small finance banks and payments banks, along with bank acquisitions, restructuring and governance. He currently serves as an Independent Director across the Boards of a leading Small Finance Bank and NBFCs and also act as a Senior Advisor to prominent firms in the Financial Services.
As an Independent Director, Mr. Yadav will guide the Board on governance, risk and regulatory matters and will serve on certain important Board Committees. His appointment comes at a pivotal stage for Optimo. In FY26, the company grew its assets under management by 179 per cent to ₹441 crore, reported a 394 per cent rise in revenue, and expanded to 49 branches across five states, while keeping its lending fully secured. As Optimo works toward its target of ₹1,200 crore in AUM by end of March 2027, Mr. Yadav’s rich experience in banking, risk management, regulatory matters and governance will be instrumental in ensuring that its institutional frameworks, risk discipline and board oversight keep pace with its growth.
Prashant Pitti, Founder & Managing Director, Optimo Capital, said, “As a lender, our governance has to grow faster than our loan book. Mr. Yadav has spent his career shaping how Indian banks are licensed, owned and governed. His experience will be invaluable to our Board as we bring credit to more small business owners in India’s smaller cities.”
Shrimohan Yadav said, “It is rare to see a lender grow at Optimo’s pace while holding firmly to the fundamentals: fully secured lending, centralised underwriting and careful checks on every loan. In a short span of time, the team has built something genuinely valuable for small business owners who form backbone of the growing economy, have long been underserved by formal credit. I look forward to working with the Board and management and contributing my experience in regulation and governance as Optimo enters its next phase of growth.”
