Former Salesforce, Microsoft, and SAP leader joins as Senior Vice President to accelerate growth and adoption in the region
New Delhi, Sept 02—MongoDB, Inc. (NASDAQ: MDB) today announced that Richard Scott has joined the company as Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ). Based in Sydney, Scott will lead MongoDB’s regional strategy as organizations move AI from pilot projects into production at scale.
MongoDB’s intelligent data platform is trusted by leading companies across the region—including enterprise leaders like LGU+, Cathay Pacific, Samsung, and Woolworths—as well as fast-growing and AI-native companies like Heidi, Zomato, Canva, Grab, and Emergent.
With thousands of customers and more than 1,200 employees in APJ, MongoDB is investing heavily throughout the region. In May the company opened a new office in Kuala Lumpur and will be opening a new Tokyo office in September, with increased investment in Japan in the coming months. Large engineering teams in India and Australia continue to expand, and in June MongoDB for Academia announced it will upskill 2 million developers in India by 2030 with vital data and AI skills.
Scott will focus on accelerating the company’s growth and adoption across the region. MongoDB helps customers move AI into production by bringing real-time data, vector search, hybrid search and AI capabilities like Voyage AI embeddings and reranking together on one platform. This means enterprises and builders can speed up innovation, reduce complexity, and improve accuracy for their AI applications.
Scott is a senior technology executive with more than 25 years of experience helping organizations transform. Prior to joining MongoDB, Scott was the Senior Vice President for APJ at Salesforce. He has also held senior leadership roles at Informatica, Microsoft, SAP and IBM.
