Commenting on the company’s performance, Mr Ashutosh Goenka, Chairman & Managing Director, Meenakshi India Limited, said, “While revenues remained broadly stable, our reported profitability improved significantly, supported primarily by other income during the quarter. The tariff related uncertainty in US and slower demand in Europe is expected to strengthen now once the tariff disadvantages vis-à-vis countries such as Bangladesh and Vietnam are addressed through trade agreements.”
However, I believe the more meaningful takeaway lies in the performance of our core garment business. In the corresponding quarter of the previous year, our core operations had reported an operating loss. During the current quarter, although operating profits from the core business remain modest, we have returned to positive operating performance. We view this as an important milestone because it indicates that the corrective measures we have taken over the past year are beginning to yield results and that the fundamentals of our business are steadily improving.
“Listing on the BSE Main Board marks an important milestone in our journey as it will help strengthen our visibility, accessibility and engagement with the wider investor community. For us, the listing is a reflection of the evolution of the company over the years and our ambition to build a globally competitive, export-led manufacturing business. The BSE platform gives us a broader and more active market ecosystem, while enhancing transparency, liquidity and opportunities for greater participation from investors,” he said.
