Thiruvananthapuram, September 21, 2026: Preliminary discussions have been initiated under the leadership of KFON to further strengthen digital connectivity across the state and expand broadband services to tribal areas with limited connectivity. The initiative aims to technically upgrade the existing network while ensuring more efficient connectivity in remote tribal regions.
Expanding internet services in tribal areas will create greater opportunities for people to leverage digital access for education, employment, entrepreneurship and livelihood. As part of this effort, KFON will consider measures to expand network infrastructure and strengthen last-mile connectivity in these regions.
The participation of service providers, including local cable operators, will also play an important role in extending connections from KFON‘s Points of Presence (PoPs) to households. KFON is also considering the installation of solar power systems at its PoPs in rural and tribal areas with limited connectivity. This is aimed at reducing electricity costs while improving the stability of network services.
