Jakarta, Sep 3: Indonesian stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the Jakarta Composite Index gaining 1.12 per cent to reach a fresh three-month high, as investors stepped up buying across major sectors.

The finance, infrastructure and agriculture sectors were among the strongest performers, helping lift the broader market and improve investor sentiment.

Market breadth remained positive, with 408 stocks advancing, compared with 246 that declined, while 182 stocks ended unchanged. The broad participation indicated that buying interest was spread across the market rather than being limited to a handful of companies.

Among individual stocks, PT Mizuho Leasing Indonesia emerged as one of the biggest gainers, rising 33.78 per cent. Guna Timur Raya climbed 25 per cent, while Pakuan gained 24.90 per cent. Mizuho Leasing and Guna Timur Raya also reached new highs during the session.

The positive close came as investors continued to assess global market conditions, including movements in oil prices, currencies and interest rates. Brent crude remained around $95 a barrel, keeping energy prices on investors’ radar.

The strong performance of Indonesian equities marks a positive start to September, with investors showing renewed confidence in sectors linked to the country’s financial activity, infrastructure development and agriculture.

Going ahead, market sentiment is likely to remain influenced by global interest-rate expectations, commodity prices and developments in international markets. For now, the fresh three-month high gives Indonesian equities a stronger footing as investors look for further opportunities.
