Hyderabad, April 21: Allana Group, along with its subsidiary Indian Poultry Alliance and global seafood player Captain Fresh, has announced the incorporation of Indian Retail Alliance Private Limited (IRAPL) a joint venture aimed at creating India’s first organised, at-scale fresh protein retail ecosystem.
The newly formed entity will see Allana Group holding a 51% stake, while Captain Fresh will hold the remaining 49%. The collaboration brings together Allana Group’s extensive legacy in India’s protein industry spanning over 160 years with Captain Fresh’s advanced seafood supply chain capabilities and omni-channel technology platform.
IRAPL aims to address the fragmentation in India’s fresh protein market by building a unified retail network offering a comprehensive range of products including seafood, chicken, and mutton. The platform will operate through a mix of stand-alone stores, shop-in-shop formats, and HoReCa channels, ensuring broad accessibility across the country.
Captain Fresh will contribute its retail brand ChopServe and digital infrastructure, while Allana Group will leverage its established expertise in poultry, ready-to-cook (RTC) products, and protein processing. The venture also plans to collaborate with local retail entrepreneurs to drive last-mile execution and scalability.
Commenting on the development, Asim Allana, Family Promoter, Allana Group, said the initiative aims to create a scalable ecosystem for fresh protein retail, with a vision to build a network of 4,000 stores across India over the next four years.
Utham Gowda, CMD and Group CEO of Captain Fresh, highlighted that the venture builds on past learnings and combines strong product leadership with entrepreneurial distribution to sustainably scale the fresh protein retail industry.
With plans to onboard region-specific entrepreneurs and expand through existing retail operations, IRAPL is positioned as a first-of-its-kind platform in India, offering an integrated approach to sourcing, distribution, and retailing of fresh protein products nationwide.
