New Delhi, Aug 24: India and Morocco are working to deepen their economic partnership by expanding trade, improving market access and encouraging greater investment and industrial cooperation.
Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and Electronics & Information Technology Jitin Prasada is on an official visit to Morocco from August 24 to 25. During the visit, he will co-chair the 7th Session of the India-Morocco Joint Commission with Morocco’s Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, Omar Hejira.
The discussions will cover a wide range of areas, including trade, investment, agriculture, food safety, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, energy, renewable energy, digital technology, transport, tourism, education and skills.
Both countries are looking to expand the range of products and services traded between them. A broader trade relationship could provide more opportunities for exporters, manufacturers, investors and smaller businesses in both markets.
Food safety is also an important area of cooperation. The two sides are expected to work towards greater exchange of information and technical cooperation relating to food quality, testing, packaging, labelling and import procedures.
The partnership is also being strengthened through cultural cooperation. A proposed cultural exchange programme for 2026–2030 is expected to encourage greater interaction between artists, cultural institutions and heritage organisations.
India and Morocco recorded merchandise trade of around $4 billion in 2025, with India exporting products such as pharmaceuticals, vehicles, food products and refined petroleum, while Morocco supplies products including phosphates and fertilisers.
For businesses and ordinary people, stronger economic ties can mean new markets, investment opportunities, jobs and greater cooperation in areas that affect everyday life, including healthcare, food, education and technology.
During the visit, Indian and Moroccan officials and business representatives are also expected to explore partnerships and joint ventures that can support long-term economic growth.
The growing India-Morocco partnership reflects a shared effort to expand business opportunities, strengthen people-to-people connections and build a more diverse and mutually beneficial economic relationship.
