Mumbai, Sep 11: HyperVerge, an AI-driven customer onboarding technology company, today launched a suite of AI agents for business loan underwriting at the Global Fintech Fest 2026. Built to close India’s ₹25 lakh crore credit gap for MSMEs, the suite of three AI agents cuts manual work on complex business loan files to under an hour, while keeping the decision-making in the hands of credit managers, which is in line with RBI’s Guidance on Regulatory Principles for Model Risk Management.
Timely access to credit still remains one of the greatest challenges MSMEs face. A small retailer waiting on a loan to restock before the festive season, a manufacturer waiting on working capital, or a new business waiting on its first loan to launch are faced with exactly this challenge. Work stalls while a credit file sits with a lender for days. These delays aren’t unfounded as financial institutions too must perform due diligence before handing out a loan.
Only 41% of India’s 8.7 crore registered MSMEs have ever accessed formal credit. Outstanding commercial credit still grew 14% year over year, to ₹65.8 lakh crore. According to Deloitte, the resulting MSME credit gap stands roughly at ₹25 lakh crore. Manual review cannot close a gap that size at a cost lenders can sustain. HyperVerge’s AI agents suite for loan underwriting comes at the right time to ensure credit is accessible to the right people and fraud is checked at the door before it has a chance to happen.
“Small ticket personal loans disburse in under 10 minutes today, but business loans still take days because of the depth of assessment they require. For over a decade, HyperVerge has answered one question for lenders: is this person who they claim to be? This suite takes on the natural next question on whether they can repay the loan. Our AI agents automate that assembly work, pulling documents, compiling data, and running credit parameters, so a small business doesn’t have to wait weeks for a decision and gets access to credit faster,” said Kedar Kulkarni, CEO & Co-Founder, HyperVerge.
The company built the suite to move fast without giving up human oversight. Here’s how:
-
The financial underwriting agent pulls bank statements, GST filings and tax returns. It flags missing pages instead of bouncing back to the borrower and restarting the process all over again
-
The video personal discussion agent, which is available in 10-12 languages, joins the credit manager’s video call, asks questions drawn from risks flagged in the financial review and checks the business premises on the video against the numbers on paper. Every answer in its notes are timestamped to make reviews easier
-
The background due diligence agent screens the business and its promoters against corporate filings, litigation records and sanctions lists, routing anything flagged to the person in-charge. The product replicates each client’s existing summary format, with the same fields, tables, and recommendation structure their risk teams already work with. Where a client has no established format, HyperVerge prescribes one. And it does in the language lenders prefer.
Every recommendation the agents make links back to its original source be it a bank statement, a video timestamp or a public filing. Such explainability is exactly what RBI’s recent guidance expects from AI in lending.
“We built traceability into the agentic suite from the start so a credit team, a borrower or a regulator can see exactly where information came from. The same system that checks a business premises against reported financials during a video call also helps flag suspected mule accounts because it’s critical to ensure physical reality matches the paperwork,” said Vignesh Krishnakumar, CTO & Co-Founder, HyperVerge.
Successful pilots prove MSMEs can get access to loans faster
The time saved moves the loan forward faster. HyperVerge tested the AI agents suite with roughly 10 mid-size lenders through the initial proof of concepts. Three are already in live production on the video personal discussion agent specifically. HyperVerge’s goal with this solution is to make credit accessible to MSMEs regardless of which region the business is located in and the video personal discussion agent is accessible in 10-12 languages. The AI agent suite has also picked up traction with small business lenders in the US.
The results of the pilot:
-
Time taken for financial assessment went down from two to three hours to five minutes
-
A credit appraisal memo that took four hours to assemble, came back in under 10 minutes in the lender’s own format
-
Personal discussions notes, which took credit managers 45 minutes to an hour, are now done in five minutes
-
Background due diligence is completed and consolidated into reports in minutes too. HyperVerge estimates the combined effect returns roughly ₹2,500 to ₹3,000 per file in credit staff time, freeing up lending teams to underwrite 2-3X more files without adding headcount
These agents don’t replace people. They simply help them do the work faster so MSMEs can get access to loans faster. Over the next two-to-three years, the company expects the underwriting suite to add roughly 20% to our current revenue base. That’s a meaningful contribution from a product line that is less than a year old, and it reflects how much manual effort still sits inside credit decisioning today.
