Noida, Oct 01: As part of a broader push to deepen India-Catalonia economic ties across sectors including artificial intelligence, deep tech, cybersecurity, and advanced manufacturing, HCLSoftware, the software products and platforms division of HCLTech, welcomed a trade delegation from the Government of Catalonia, led by Miquel Sàmper Rodríguez, Minister for Business and Labour, Government of Catalonia, at its headquarters.
The engagement, coordinated by Catalonia Trade and Investment, explored areas of collaboration between HCLSoftware and Catalonia’s technology and digital ecosystem, including sovereign AI, cybersecurity, DeepTech, and trusted digital infrastructure.
Catalonia has emerged as one of Europe’s largest ICT hubs, with notable strength in cybersecurity talent, a fast-growing AI and DeepTech startup base, and a track record as a top destination for technology foreign direct investment in the region. The visit builds on HCLSoftware’s own focus on sovereign-by-design enterprise solutions and its IP-led engineering model, anchored in India and delivered through teams based around the world, including in Catalonia.
Kalyan Kumar, President, HCLSoftware, said, “Sovereignty isn’t about isolation; it’s about choice over where software runs, where data resides and how AI is governed. Catalonia’s momentum in AI, DeepTech and cybersecurity mirrors the future we’re building at HCLSoftware: enterprises retaining control as they move AI from pilots into production. Our IP-led engineering, focused on Experience, Data and Operations, together with our team on the ground here, lets us partner with Catalan enterprises and service providers to co-create secure, sovereign, scalable digital solutions. This visit marks a meaningful step in that partnership.”
Miquel Sàmper, Minister for Business and Labour of the Government of Catalonia, stated: “Catalonia and India maintain a growing economic relationship, built on mutual trust, the complementarity of their business ecosystems, and the many collaboration opportunities offered by two dynamic and innovative economies. From Catalonia, we recognize that India has established itself as one of the world’s most promising markets and represents a strategic partner for Catalan companies seeking international growth, particularly in high value-added and technology-intensive sectors. Our visit to HCLSoftware is a clear example of this opportunity, a company whose focus on sovereignty, security and digital trust reflects the same priorities Catalonia is building into its own AI and DeepTech ecosystem. The ties between the technological ecosystems of Catalonia and India are becoming ever stronger, driven by a shared vision of innovation, digital talent and entrepreneurship as key drivers of competitiveness and growth.”
