HCG Celebrates Cancer Winners at ‘Little Warriors, Big Dreams’, a Pediatric Cancer Awareness Event

Bengaluru, October 03, 2026: On the occasion of Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, HCG Hospital, Double Road, hosted ‘Little Warriors, Big Dreams’, a special event celebrating children who have battled cancer, cancer survivors and their families. Bringing together young patients, survivors, families, doctors and caregivers, the event was an afternoon of inspiring stories, music and celebration, with a focus on the courage, resilience and dreams that continue to shine beyond a cancer diagnosis.

The event celebrated the journeys of HCG’s young cancer winners, recognising not just the challenges they are overcoming, but also the milestones, dreams and everyday moments that make their journeys special. A special musical presentation by renowned Carnatic classical and Kannada light music singer Smt. Sowmya Pallapathu added a lively and memorable touch to the celebration.

Dr. Pravin Nikhade, Chief Operating Officer, HCG Cancer Hospital Double Road, said, “Our young cancer winners remind us that cancer is only one chapter in their story, not the story itself. At HCG, we combine advanced cancer care with compassion and support to help every child return to the things they love, pursue their dreams and look ahead with confidence. Today is a celebration of their strength, bright futures and the families who stand beside them.”

Speaking about the importance of early diagnosis and comprehensive care, Dr. Intezar Mehdi, Director and Head of the Department, Senior Consultant – Paediatric Haematology Oncology, HCG Cancer Hospital Double Road, said, “Pediatric cancer care has evolved significantly, and with timely diagnosis, appropriate treatment and a multidisciplinary approach, many children can go on to lead fulfilling lives. Equally important is ensuring that children feel supported throughout treatment and beyond. Their recovery is not only about completing treatment; it is also about helping them get back to school, friendships, activities and the dreams that define their childhood. Celebrating these journeys helps us reinforce a message of hope for children and families navigating cancer.”

The event also provided an opportunity for parents of young cancer winners to share their experiences and reflect on their children’s journeys.

Speaking about their journey, a parent of a young cancer winner, said, “I have been coming to HCG for my son’s treatment, and ever since he was diagnosed with cancer, the HCG Foundation has supported us tremendously with financial assistance. We are very grateful for the support we have received throughout his journey.” He added, “Today’s event has been very refreshing for us. We would usually come to the hospital with a sick child for treatment, but to come here with a healed child and participate in such a joyful celebration makes us very happy. Seeing him healthy and being able to celebrate this moment together means a lot to our family.”

Through ‘Little Warriors, Big Dreams’, HCG sought to shine a light on the stories behind pediatric cancer, stories of children who continue to learn, play, dream and look ahead. The celebration was a reminder that with timely care, medical expertise and the support of families and caregivers, a cancer diagnosis need not define a child’s future.
