Bengaluru, June 05: Flipkart, India’s homegrown e-commerce marketplace, has recently launched EV Assist, a digital marketplace designed to simplify access to electric vehicles (EVs) for its delivery executives, Wishmasters. Currently available for Flipkart Minutes’ riders across 20+ cities, the launch marks the latest step in Flipkart’s commitment to electrifying its last-mile delivery fleet under the EV100 initiative. Flipkart‘s EV fleet has doubled over the past year, crossing 20,000 vehicles during the festive season in 2025. As India accelerates its transition to electric mobilityEV Assist aims to make that transition more practical and accessible for delivery partners.

Leveraging its technology capabilities, Flipkart brings together trusted EV fleet and rental providers on a single platform via EV Assist. The initiative helps delivery partners overcome common barriers to EV adoption, including affordability, vehicle ownership, and fragmented access to rental options.

Since its launch, EV Assist has seen strong interest from Wishmasters across India, with Delhi NCR, Patna, and Bengaluru emerging as leading markets, reflecting the breadth of demand for accessible EV solutions among last-mile delivery executives.

Flipkart’s recent study based on insights from over 6000 delivery partners found that nearly 46% are willing to transition to electric mobility, but that financing access, charging infrastructure, and ecosystem confidence remain the primary barriers. The study also found that nearly 90% of surveyed delivery partners spend between ₹2,000 and ₹5,000 per month on petrol. At the same time, industry estimates suggest electric two-wheelers can reduce fuel and energy costs by up to 70–80%, while lower maintenance requirements can contribute to a 15–20% improvement in delivery partner income.

Making EV Adoption Simpler and More Accessible

Through EV Assist, Wishmasters can discover a variety of electric two-wheeler rental options based on their city and weekly budget. They can compare available options across budget ranges from below ₹1,000 to above ₹2,000 per week, register interest using only their name and mobile number, and connect directly with verified mobility providers for onboarding and vehicle allocation. Mobility partners also provide vehicle maintenance, servicing, and operational support, reducing the day-to-day friction of EV ownership for delivery partners. The EVs are designed for high-frequency delivery cycles, incorporating speed compliance and essential safety gear. Integrated smart technology, including IoT, GPS tracking, and geofencing, ensures continuous asset monitoring and theft prevention.

To improve accessibility across geographies, the platform is available in multiple languages, which include English, Hindi, Bengali, and Kannada.

Commenting on the launch, Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group, said, “India’s transition to electric mobility will ultimately be driven by how easy and affordable we make adoption for millions of people. Flipkart, with one of the country’s largest last-mile delivery networks, is well-placed to support this transition. And supporting it meaningfully means building the ground-level systems that make EV adoption practical and accessible. When millions of delivery partners have a simpler, more affordable route to electric vehicles, the impact is felt well beyond our own operations. That is the kind of long-term, responsible change Flipkart is committed to driving.”

Building the Broader EV Ecosystem

The EV Assist platform is one part of a wider set of efforts to strengthen the ecosystem for large-scale EV adoption. Flipkart is working with infrastructure partners to expand charging solutions across key delivery hubs and high-density routes, and with OEMs and financiers to make vehicle acquisition more viable for delivery partners. Beyond the last mile, Flipkart has piloted electric trucks on mid-mile routes, including NCR-Jaipur and NCR-Agra – an early step towards decarbonising its broader logistics network.

As one of India’s largest digital commerce platforms, Flipkart is committed to ensuring that its scale becomes a force for positive change – across its supply chain, seller ecosystem, and the communities it serves.
