Apr 28: Swiggy, India’s pioneering on-demand convenience platform, hosted ‘SwigStree: Celebrating Women on the Move’, a landmark event that recognized the resilience and commitment of women delivery partners who are currently reshaping India’s logistics backbone, making it more inclusive, resilient and future ready.. Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Hon’ble Union Minister of Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

At the event, Swiggy recognized women delivery partners across Swiggy Food Marketplace and Instamart, who demonstrated extraordinary courage and perseverance, overcoming significant personal and socio-economic hardships to provide for their families. All attendees were felicitated by Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Chief Guest and Sriharsha Majety, Co-founder and Group CEO, Swiggy. Specialized, ergonomic helmets designed specifically for women’s safety and comfort on the road were distributed to all the participating delivery partners along with a self care kit.
Addressing the gathering at Swiggy’s Swigstree initiative, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports highlighted the transformative role of women in India’s evolving workforce and emphasized “Empowering women is central to building a Viksit Bharat. He further noted,
“The recent labour reforms, including the Code on Social Security, 2020, have for the first time recognized gig and platform workers, ensuring dignity, legal identity, and social security. Under the leadership of Narendra Modi, initiatives such as e-Shram registration, Ayushman Bharat, and enhanced maternity benefits are bringing millions of women into the ambit of welfare, social security, and protection.”
He added, ‘Platforms like Swiggy are playing a vital role in enabling flexible livelihood opportunities, particularly for women. Praising women delivery partners, he remarked,
“Women delivery partners are not only supporting their families but also driving societal progress, inspiring future generations, and strengthening the nation’s economic and social fabric.”
Continuing with its partnership with the National Stock Exchange (NSE) announced in December 2024, Swiggy also organized a specially curated Financial Literacy Session in partnership with National Stock Exchange (NSE), based on a SEBI approved curriculum. The session covered various ways of managing their earnings through budgeting, saving and smart investing. It also encompassed key aspects like identifying and avoiding financial frauds, understanding digital savings, and planning for long-term financial stability.
Speaking at the event, Sriharsha Majety, Co-founder and Group CEO, Swiggy said,
“Through initiatives like SwigStree, we are proud to be building a supportive ecosystem where our women delivery partners and logistics workers feel empowered while on the move, & thrive and become financially independent. This is not just a Swiggy story; it is an India story. A woman who navigates a city on her own terms to earn a dignified income is doing more than supporting a family, she is rewriting what is possible for the next generation. We are ensuring that as work becomes more flexible and accessible, it remains firmly aligned with the ambition and dignity of every woman who chooses to lead the way. This is Nari Shakti in action.”
This initiative underscores Swiggy’s commitment to the holistic development and welfare of its delivery partners and aligns with its sustainability goals to foster community welfare. In 2025, Swiggy trained over 2200 delivery partners across 22+ road safety workshops under the Delivering Safely Charter, across multiple cities including Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Noida, Ghaziabad, Chennai and Mysore. Recently, Swiggy also organized a Financial Literacy Workshop in Bengaluru for its delivery partners, in partnership with NSE.
