Chandigarh, June 25: Ambuja Cements, the cement and building material company of the diversified Adani Portfolio, through its CSR initiatives, has created a transformative impact in empowering rural women across Gir Somnath, Gujarat. By forming over 1150 Women Self–Help Groups (SHGs) 12,500 women are involved from 102 villages.
The initiative has provided women with crucial financial literacy and entrepreneurial training. This support has enabled them to develop sustainable income sources and collectively raise a corpus of ₹4.96 crore.
Key to the program’s success is the establishment of the Sorath Mahila Vikas Sahkari Mandali, a women’s cooperative that empowers women by ensuring access to essential services such as healthcare, ration shops, and pensions. By equipping them with leadership skills and opportunities to manage small businesses, the initiative has significantly boosted their confidence and financial independence, transforming the lives of many women in the region.
Ambuja Cement is further committed to expanding these efforts by forming an additional 2,000 SHGs, aiming to empower 25,000 women across Gujarat, continuing its mission to foster sustainable livelihoods and community development.
