Kolkata, August 17: Air-conditioned suburban train services will soon be extended to Bangaon, a key railway town near the India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal, providing commuters with improved and more comfortable rail connectivity.
The move is expected to benefit a large number of daily passengers travelling between Bangaon and Kolkata, particularly those who rely on suburban trains for work, education and other regular activities.
The introduction of AC suburban services on the route is part of efforts to modernise passenger services and enhance the commuting experience across the suburban railway network.
Bangaon is an important railway junction in North 24 Parganas district and serves as a significant gateway towards the India-Bangladesh border. The extension of air-conditioned services is expected to strengthen connectivity for residents of the region while offering passengers an alternative to conventional suburban trains.
The initiative comes amid continued efforts by the Indian Railways to expand modern passenger amenities and introduce upgraded train services on high-demand suburban routes.
The move is likely to provide commuters with greater comfort, particularly during West Bengal’s hot and humid summer months, while further improving the overall quality of suburban rail travel.
